Visits can be regular or occasional. Before starting, we will talk things through with you, and with the person being visited if appropriate, by phone, WhatsApp or video, so the visits work for everyone.

You receive an update after each visit by WhatsApp or email, with photographs where appropriate.
What happens if there is a problem?
We contact you promptly and explain what we have found. With your agreement, we can help arrange the appropriate local tradesperson or service.
Can you hold my keys?
Yes. Your keys are held securely and discreetly, as part of an ongoing arrangement with regular home checks.
Can you deal with tradespeople?
Yes. We provide access for cleaners, gardeners, pool companies, engineers and other contractors, and secure the property afterwards.
Do you carry out repairs or maintenance?
If something needs attention, we can help arrange the appropriate local professional and provide access where needed. We do not carry out repairs or maintenance ourselves. For example, if there is a leak while you are away, we check what is happening, help arrange a plumber, let them in and keep you informed.
How much does it cost?
Every home and every situation is different, so pricing depends on what you need and how often. Get in touch and we will give you a clear price before anything is agreed.
What if I need something not listed here?
Just ask. If it is something we can help with, we will agree the details with you first.
Is this an emergency or 24-hour service?
We are not an emergency or 24-hour service. Where something unexpected arises, we will respond as promptly as reasonably possible and help arrange appropriate local support where needed.
Do you look after holiday rental properties?
Our service is designed primarily for private homeowners and their families. We are not a full holiday-rental management company.
Who are check-in visits for?
Anyone living independently whom you would like someone local to check in on: a family member, a partner, a friend or someone living on their own. The service is intended for independent adults and does not provide personal care, medical care or nursing.
Do you speak Spanish?
Yes. We can communicate in both English and Spanish, including when speaking with local tradespeople and service providers on your behalf.
A dependable local person, when you need one
I am Andrew Scriven, and I live and work in the Sotogrande area.
I have worked locally for many years through my photography, and have got to know the area and the practical realities of working with homeowners here.
Alongside my photography work, I am also a qualified counsellor, and my work with people has reinforced the importance I place on trust, discretion, listening and treating people with respect.
Through my work locally, I have seen how often small things can become difficult when you live away from Sotogrande. A delivery that needs receiving. A tradesperson who needs letting in. Neither is necessarily complicated, but both need someone reliable on the ground.
A personal reason
Part of the reason for creating Sotogrande Home Support also comes from my own experience of seeing how difficult it can be when someone you care about needs a little more support, and you are not always close enough to be there yourself.
Sometimes what is needed is not formal care, but simply someone trustworthy nearby who can check in, notice if something is not quite right and keep family informed.
That is something I wanted this service to provide.
